More Than Just a Summer Camp

Continuing Canada’s Paddling Lineage at Bingemans

There is something deeply ingrained in the Canadian spirit about the silhouette of a canoe on a quiet river. For centuries, the canoe was the heartbeat of this land—the vehicle of explorers, a vital tool for Indigenous peoples, and the primary way we connected with the vast wilderness of Ontario.

At Grand Experiences, we believe that every child should have the chance to be part of that story. That’s why our Bingemans Grand Canoe Camp is designed for the next generation of adventurers (ages 10–14) to step off the sidelines and into the current.

The Skills That Last a Lifetime

For a 10-to-14-year-old, mastering a canoe is about more than just a “J-stroke.” It’s about building essential water safety skills that stay with them for life. In an age of digital distractions, learning to “read” a river—identifying an eddy, understanding flow, and practicing self-rescue—builds a unique kind of confidence and resilience.

We don’t just teach them how to move a boat; we teach them how to be stewards of the water. By the end of the week, these campers aren’t just passengers; they are paddlers, carrying forward a lineage that stretches back through Canadian history.

A Partnership Built on Heritage

This camp is a true “meeting of the waters” between two local legacies. Bingemans has been a cornerstone of the Waterloo Region for generations, and their family history of hospitality is the perfect match for our 27-year history of river guiding.

We’ve combined our expertise to create a seamless experience for families:

  • Catered Excellence: No more soggy sandwiches. Lunches are professionally catered by the Bingemans culinary team, keeping the kids fueled for a full day of activity.
  • The Best of Both Worlds: After a morning of skill-building and exploring the Grand River, the kids get to cut loose at the Bingemans Big Splash Water Park. It’s the perfect reward for their hard work on the water.

Why Age 10–14 is the “Sweet Spot”

This is the age where independence takes root. At our camp, we give them the tools to navigate safely while fostering a genuine love for the outdoors. Whether they are future backcountry trippers or just looking for a fun way to spend a week in the sun, they’ll leave with a certificate of completion and a newfound respect for the Grand.
