Elevate Your Paddling: ORCKA Certification Now Available at Grand Experiences
The rivers and lakes are more than just scenic routes—they are a playground for those who truly know how to handle a boat. While many people can get from point A to point B in a canoe, there is a profound difference between simply “paddling” and mastering the art of the blade.
We are thrilled to announce that is now offering ORCKA (Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Association) courses.

Why Get Certified?
For over 40 years, ORCKA has been the gold standard for paddling instruction in Ontario. Whether you are a weekend warrior or an aspiring wilderness guide, these certifications provide you with a national standard of skill, safety, and confidence.
When you join us for an ORCKA course, you aren’t just learning strokes; you are connecting with a deep Canadian tradition. You’ll learn how to read the water, understand the physics of your hull, and master the techniques that make long days on the water feel effortless.
Our Newest Offering: Basic Canoeing Level 1 & 2
We are kicking things off with an intensive, one-day “Level 1 and 2” combo package. This course is designed to take you from the basics of boat handling to technical mastery in a single 9-hour session.
- Where: The calm, protected waters of the Waterford Conservation Area.
- The Focus: We cover everything from Canadian canoeing history and theory to high-level technical skills. You’ll master lifts and carries, precision dock landings, and—most importantly—essential safety maneuvers like the capsized canoe rescue.
- The Result: You walk away with a provincial certification and the peace of mind that comes with knowing you can handle your vessel in almost any recreational situation.
Safety, Skill, and Community
At Grand Experiences, we believe the best adventures are the ones where you feel fully in control of your journey. By adding professional ORCKA instruction to our lineup, we’re helping our community of paddlers become safer, more efficient, and more connected to the heritage of the waterways we love.
Space for these technical clinics is limited to ensure high-quality, personalized instruction.
