Canoeing Basic Skills Certification
The aim of this course is to introduce novice participants to paddling with a partner, in calm waters. Skills & knowledge gained at this level form foundation for basic paddling close to shore on sheltered bodies of water. Rescue options are discussed at this level & can be demonstrated by the instructor.
Activities focus on safety and comfortable paddling in a calm designated area and shoreline. While there is a great deal to learn at this level, activity should concentrate on progress, teamwork and an awareness of the need for future learning. Paddlers should leave the course empowered and motivated to continue their learning and aware of their individual limitations.
Course Length: The course length is of two to four hours.
We run the course Sunday mornings all season long.
Location: Brant Conservation Area, or Pinehurst Lake if river water levels are unusually high
Options: Training and Trip packages, group rates' We also run courses on demand any day for groups ( minimum 8). Courses can be run at other locations.
