Paddle the “Canadian Amazon”: Two Exclusive Dates for Big Creek

Hidden deep within Southern Ontario’s Carolinian zone lies a paddling experience entirely unlike the wide, open currents of the Grand River.

Known locally as the “Canadian Amazon,” Big Creek winds beneath a dense, overarching canopy of ancient hardwood trees, thick tangled vines, and towering ferns. Paddling here feels like stepping straight into a secluded, subtropical waterway. The water runs clear, the towering tree cover filters the late-summer sunlight, and the sheer biodiversity makes it one of the most immersive backcountry paddling corridors in the province.

Because of its delicate ecosystem, unique navigational turns, and strict seasonal conditions, we only run dedicated Big Creek expeditions on select dates each year.

We have two departure windows upcoming:

• Sunday, August 31
• Sunday, September 14

These small-group trips are fully outfitted, ensuring you have the right gear, route coordination, and shuttle support to navigate this winding, intimate creek safely and effortlessly. You just bring your sense of adventure.

Space is strictly limited on each departure to preserve the quality and tranquility of the route. Once these boats are filled, the season for Big Creek is closed.
