Description
Explore one of Canada’s most biodiverse and untouched wilderness regions on this guided eco-adventure through Big Creek, often called the “Canadian Amazon.” Flowing through the Big Creek National Wildlife Area into the Long Point World Biosphere, this winding waterway takes you deep into Southern Ontario’s Carolinian Forest, home to towering old-growth trees, rare wildlife, and rich cultural history.
Paddle under a lush overhead canopy where eagles, ospreys, and great horned owls shelter above, while muskrats, otters, and giant toads thrive below. The creek’s seemingly gentle flow hides subtle currents and tight turns, requiring navigation around overhanging branches and fallen trees—making it both a peaceful and engaging paddle.
Along the way, your Paddle Canada certified interpretive guide will share the ecological and cultural significance of the region, point out wildlife tracks and hidden animal dens, and tell tales of Big Creek’s unique heritage. You’ll also receive curated recommendations to local craft breweries on Ontario’s South Coast—each with its own story and character.
