Grand Experiences has been guiding unforgettable outdoor adventures since 1997. Based in the historic town of Paris, Ontario, we are proud to be one of the province’s most respected and established outfitters—renowned for delivering high-quality paddling, and hiking experiences across Southern Ontario. As a locally owned business operating in the County of Brant for over 25 years, we’ve earned a reputation for excellence, safety, and environmental stewardship.

Based out of our historic 150-year-old Outfitter’s Shop on the Grand River in picturesque Paris, Ontario, Grand Experiences operates in some of the most remarkable natural settings across South Central Ontario—including a Canadian Heritage River and two UNESCO-designated World Biospheres.

As the region’s full-service outdoor adventure outfitter, we offer guided paddling, and hiking trips from the Niagara Escarpment to Long Point Bay. We’re also proud to sell Canadian-made canoes and kayaks that reflect our commitment to quality and sustainability.

Grand Experiences is the recipient of 15 tourism and business awards, including recognition as the Region’s Best Tourism Business. Our “Path Less Travelled” Mennonite Country cycling trip was named an Ontario Signature Experience, while our Nith Whitewater Experiential Learning Adventure earned a Southwest Ontario Signature Experience designation in 2022. Our reputation is supported by numerous glowing media reviews and a long history of satisfied adventurers.

Adam Merrifield – Owner

In 2025, Adam Merrifield took over operations of Grand Experiences, bringing with him over 30 years of software and entrepreneurial experience and a deep passion for rivers, conservation, and the outdoors.

Adam founded Seydoggy in 2005 as a software development company, which he operated for nearly two decades. In 2020, he began experimenting with creating an open-source, patent-free biopolymer as a safer, environmentally friendly alternative to plastisol — the PVC resin commonly used in custom bait making that does not break down in water. While the science ultimately required more advanced research, this work inspired a new path: funding sustainable material innovation through the creation of custom fishing tackle designed to last longer, reduce waste, and minimize environmental impact.

By 2023, Seydoggy had evolved into a sporting goods brand, designing products with sustainability at the core — from recycled materials and durable construction to eco-friendly packaging. Today, a portion of proceeds goes toward ongoing biopolymer research and supporting conservation organizations that protect local waterways.

Adam is also the author of Mighty Smallmouth: Catching Big Bass on Small Water, a 150-page book that shares practical fishing techniques, local river knowledge, and stories of smallmouth bass on creeks and rivers. Alongside his writing, Adam designs limited-run tackle such as the Rock Knocker Jig — a compact, skirted jig engineered for the rocky rivers where smallmouth thrive.

Through both Seydoggy and Grand Experiences, Adam remains committed to promoting sustainable fishing practices, responsible outdoor recreation, and fostering a deeper connection to nature while ensuring it endures for future generations.
